Matty Bovan has a way with his hands. The eccentric 26-year-old York, England-based designer was busy backstage today nipping and tucking at the striking clothes in his Fall 2017 collection, presented at London Fashion Weekís Fashion East show, an initiative that aids young British designers. Since his Spring 2017 LFW debut, Bovan has captured the attention and the admiration of the industry. Heís also been a junior designer at Louis Vuitton and has worked with brands like Marc Jacobs and Miu Miu on special projects, which included helping create illustrations for Spring 2016 prints and decorating mannequins for a Resort presentation, respectively.
Ever the artisan, the 2015 Central Saint Martins MA grad has amassed a magpie collection of trinkets, toys, and textiles that he uses to embellish and enhance his kaleidoscopic creations. Each piece telling its own story but fitting into a whole collection that has a smart and thoughtful narrative.
So where does he source his magical tchotchkes? Bovan has been frequenting the same small fabric outposts, vintage stores, and street markets in London since he started designing. Below, Bovan names his most treasured places to shop for materials; above, see some of them up close and personal backstage at his dazzling Fall 2017 show.
Ridley Road Market

ìI love the fabric and trims at Ridley Road. Iíve been going here since I first moved to London in 2009 and I still really like using inexpensive fabrics and materials because it gives you more freedom since itís cheap and you donít have to worry about going over budget.î
Knit Works London
ìThis is in Bethnal Green and was opened by a friend of mine called Tim. This is an amazing and much needed creative yarn store in London, which also has knitting machines and runs classes. The yarns they stock are so interesting and I love collecting yarns that inspire me and eventually go into my pieces.î
Charity shops in Crouch End
ìThere are loads of charity shops around this area and I used to live down the road in Holloway so would often go and rummage around every week and find books, garments, and old jewelry. I still love going to charity shops and thrift stores wherever I goósometimes you find the most bizarre stuff and get lucky. Itís the thrill of the chase as they say.î
Rolls & Rem
ìI used to live ëround the corner from here and would always be looking through their remnant fabrics and finding all sorts of odd and amazing synthetic fabricsóa lot of it went into my MA collection at Central Saint Martins. When money is low you always have to be more creative in those aspects.î
Rellik
ìI am a huge fan of designers like BodyMap, Westwood and McLaren, Gaultier, and on my past few visits, Steven has even let me try on some amazing archive pieces! Itís incredible to feel how they move and are constructed; such a rarity which inspires you so much.î

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK - 9 STORIES

New York Fashion Week came in like a lion with Raf Simonsís Calvin Klein debut and went out like a lamb after eight days of understated collections heavy on wardrobe essentials, outerwear, and corporate power suits. Lest that paint a boring picture of New Yorkís flagship fashion event, there were some big moments that the fashion crowd buzzed about as they moved on to London. Weíre reflecting on those here while we wait for LFW pictures to come streaming in.

1. Raf Simonsís Calvin Klein Debut Starts NYFW on a High Note
Raf Simonsís first fashion show for Calvin Klein might just be the most anticipated fashion-world event since the Battle of Versailles. That surely put a lot of pressure on the Belgian import and his close-knit team of creative partners including CK creative director Pieter Mulier and artist Sterling Ruby. They handled it well, presenting a collection at CK HQ of artsy-yet-wearable pieces that ranged from the strangeósee that vinyl-covered yellow faux-fur coatóto the practicalóhello, check blazers and roomy jeansóunder a Ruby installation comprised of New York City detritus hanging from the ceiling. If the show itself put people in a good mood, the after-party, which culminated with Simons giving a brief thank-you speech at 3:00 a.m., only bettered it.

2. Political Statements Lurked Around Every Corner
To recap every instance of politicking on the NYFW runways this season could take days. Instead, letís talk about the memorable examples. In the direct category were Public Schoolís ìMake America New Yorkî caps, Prabal Gurungís political tees, and the founders of the Womenís March speaking (and dancing) at Mara Hoffman. LRS printed ìNo Ban, No Wallî on the bum of a pair of knickers. The CFDA made Planned Parenthood pins and then pledged to donate $5 for every photo hash tagged with #istandwithpp. And in his signature fearless fashion Jeremy Scott sent out a collection inspired by idol worship that warned of the dangers of blind faith while simultaneously serving up tees that read Sex is Cute. In the hurricane of sloganeering this season, thatís one tee weíd like to wear for years to come.

3. Before NYFW, Fashion Went West
If there was any doubt that Los Angeles is fast becoming the go-to spot for the fashion crowd, Tommy Hilfiger and Rachel Comeyís West Coast shows should clear it up. Held in the days leading up to NYFW, just as Hedi Slimaneís Saint Laurent blowout was one year ago, these celebrity-filled extravaganzas served to reinforce the City of Angelsís status as a major contender on the international sceneóand to increase the number of days in fashion month.
4. Celebrity Spotting Reached New Heights in the Front Row
Whoever said NYFW was lacking in star wattage might want to check the A-list front rows this season for clarification. The week started off with Julianne Moore, Gwyneth Paltrow, Millie Bobby Brown, a trio of Moonlight actors, and A$AP Rocky at Calvin Klein, and continued with Huma Abedin at Prabal Gurung and Chelsea Clinton at Tanya Taylor. Philipp Pleinís show made FROW headlines for having both Madonna and Tiffany Trump in the same room.

5. Diversity of Ethnicity, Age, and Size Finally Arrived on the Catwalk
After much hand-wringing, it seems New York designers are finally catching on to the concept of diversity. Brands from Chromat to Coach 1941 to Marc Jacobs sent out models of all ethnicities, genders, and backgrounds. At The Row, the Olsens used legendary models of all ages, a statement echoed later in the week at Michael Kors. Letís see if this acceptance continues into the European shows.
6. You Will Never Escape Supreme
Despite more than 200 runway shows and presentations this week, the brand everyone was talking about was Supreme. Prices leaked for its Louis Vuitton collabóstart saving!óand the label launched its Spring 2017 collection online, Barack Obama prints and a Sade tee, included. Thereís also the essentially confirmed rumor that a Lacoste collab is in the works and a soon-to-be-released Supreme metro card that hype beasts cannot wait to start swiping. How long until the streetwear brand starts staging its own fashion shows?
7. Bjarne Melgaard Started the Great NYFW Giveaway
Somewhere between all the parties, shows, and endless hours on the subway was artist Bjarne Melgaardís epic giveaway. The artist dumped more than $500,000 worth of his own clothing, including Comme des GarÁons and Helmut Lang pieces, allowing guests 10 minutes to scoop up as much merch as they could get their hands on for free. Look for it in our London street style slideshow.
8. It Smelled Like Team Spirit at NYFW
Collectives are officially a thing. New York upstart Vaquera, once the solo project of Patric DiCaprio, is now a four-person team, as is the on-the-rise anonymous brand Society 8. Chromatís Becca McCharen-Tran brought out her whole design team for a group bow, and Raf Simons took a lap with CK creative director Pieter Mulier.
9. Hillary Made an End-of-Week Appearance
While daughter Chelsea attended a show, Hillary Clinton appeared at the end of New York Fashion Week to help reveal the USPSís new Oscar de la Renta stamps. She made a fashionable statement of her own, wearing a bright pink blazer and gold necklace, though the most memorable part of her appearance might be when she encouraged listeners to heed the Constitution, calling it, ìsomething we should all read and reread in todayís times.î Amen, Madame Secretary.

TRUMP FAMILY IN NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

New York Fashion Week is well underway. And with each season comes a new crop of talent in terms of designers, models, street style peacocks, and more. This lends to an ever-changing front row, as we've seen bloggers and editors nestle into their seats alongside the industry's most stylish A-listers. Noticeably absent thus far this season, though, is the Trump family. In case you didn't know, the Trumps have been prominent Fashion Week attendees for decades. Back when daughter Ivanka was just a controversy-free young woman with big fashion dreams, the aspiring entrepreneur hopped from one show to the next with her mother, Ivana.

But as the family expanded, even brother Donald Trump, Jr. found himself in the risers with his wife, Vanessa. The now-President and current First Lady, Melania, have sat front row at Michael Kors more times than they've sat through any White House briefings. And then there's Tiffany, who has posed for nightlife photographers at Jason Wu's afterparty and watched Charlotte Ronson's collections from the front lines.

ACCESSORIES - MAKE FASHION PERFECT

Fashion - it changes! And with trends getting in and out of vogue every day, it's hard to keep up with all the change. What's harder is to keep buying new clothes all the time! So, what do you do to keep your current wardrobe in style? The key is to accessorize right and give life to an old, oft worn outfit! Here are a few accessories trends that I'm so totally into this season.

1) Scarves
Ever seen yourself gawking at the cabin crew wearing scarves and all you could think about is how effortlessly chic they look, welcome to the club! I absolutely love them! Their most glorious years were in the 70s, but scarves have come back with a bang! Pick a silk printed scarf and choker tie it with your white shirt outfit to make you the Blair Waldorf at work or just tie a cotton scarf as a head band with a gypsy dress to awaken your inner bohemian. Bright check scarves with the trench coats or dull ones with your over-sized sweaters will definitely keep you in game.
2) Socks
For the last few years, designers are trying - often successfully - to make fashion for everyone. And why shouldn't they! And a trend that has recently caught on is a nice pair of socks! Who would have thought that? It is by far the easiest and the most inexpensive piece of accessory that will change the entire outfit. From the silks to frills, and neons to glitter, team these with your mules, your sandals, your block heel shoes. Don't just limit yourself with sneakers! For your work clothes you can pick the more subtle ones, at parties you can play with the knee high socks with your minis.
3) Belts
While we know that the belts didn't go anywhere, the double buckle belt has reemerged after the 80s like a Kraken! Try teaming these gypsy style belts with your high waist flared jeans or the metallic buckles to match your pencil skirt at work. A body shaper belt with a sari will definitely make all the aunties turn their heads at the next wedding! Enjoy all the attention while you dig into a hot gulab jamun.

4) Statement earrings
That one earring trend was a major head turner last year. Now, isn't that the most convenient thing ever? Pick the most gawky, chunky one piece and add flavor to your outfit. The best part about it? You don't have to throw your favourite earring of which you lost one. Just wear the one left and be stylish!
5) Layered necklaces
You don't even have to go shopping for this one. Both your old necklaces and your pocket will thank you for this. Just clean your drawer and place your metallic neckpieces together and beads and pearls can have their awesome reunion. Try layering these at your next party and grab all the attention.

5 MATTE LIPSTICK HACKS

Does any other lip product dry out your lips like matte lipstick? Nope, but every makeup hoarder has at least one they're willing to suffer chapped lips for. If you're determined to rock this classic lip look, these matte lipstick hacks are guaranteed to keep your lipstick in place and your kisser moisturized.

Exfoliate Your Lips
One of the biggest drawbacks of wearing matte lipstick is its tendency to find dry spots on your lips and rudely highlight them for all the world to see. Matte lipstick can't cling on to dry spots that aren't there, so exfoliate your lips before applying.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize
Matte lipstick doesn't draw the line at just clinging dry patches on your lips ó some formulas can be majorly drying, adding more dry patches. It's like a snake eating its own tail, but with red lips. Break the cycle by applying a moisturizing lip balm (you can even make one of your own) after exfoliating. Give it a few minutes to absorb, and your pout is ready for some matte action.
Maximize Longevity With Lip Primer
If you are not into lip primers just yet, that needs to change. Because a lip primer works with your exfoliator and moisturizer to ensure even, long-lasting wear from your lipstick. Maybe that's what we need to get through the day with a dark lip.
Make Any Lipstick Matte
Meet translucent powder, your new favorite multi-use product. The folks recommend using translucent powder to set lipstick, and it's a totally useful trick. Simply take a sheet of tissue paper and pull it apart so you're left with two single ply sheets. Rest a sheet across your lips and dust a light layer of powder across your lips and voila, your lips are ready to take on a coffee mug.
For Very Dry Lips, Consider A Cream(ier) Formula
Part of the appeal of matte lipstick is it's, well, matte finish, but if you're struggling with very dry, cracked lips (and at this time of year, who isn't?), a creamier formula could be more comfortable for you to wear.

ACCESSORIES THAT OUTFITS -BY HIMANSHU MALIK

Confused about what type of jewellery will go with your outfit? It is important to pick wisely, wear with style and flaunt it with grace, says an expert.

Himanshu Malik,, Founder and CEO of Glitzzerr.com (online shopping portal for jewellery), shares some tips to pick out the right jewellery for the right occasion:
* Corporate dressing: Minimalistic and sleek designs go best -- be it bracelets, pendants or earrings. They not only refine your outfit, but also add a subtle bling, giving your outfit a classy finish.
One should not wear blingy and sparkling pieces to their workplace. Men can opt lapel pins to enhance their look and top it up with a leather strap watch.
* With casuals: Bold colours if paired well can take the style quotient several notches higher. Club your casuals with stylish necklaces, multi-coloured bracelets and bold statement pieces that are eye-catching and at the same time exude casual elegance.
Similarly, men can opt for multiple leather bands and experiment with big stainless steel watches. Accessorise with trendy pieces such as decorative rings and fashionable belt buckles, which are great add-ons.
* Evening party: For women opting for gowns and dresses, it is recommended to keep it subtle, especially if your outfit is made of bold colours with shimmer and sequence. For flowy or straight-cut outfits, you can choose a big piece of jewellery in a contrast colour to add a regal touch.
Men wearing tuxedos or suits should not forget to add a stylish pair of cufflinks. Also, a pocket watch can elevate the overall appeal by adding an opulent grace.
* For festive occasions: Follow the rule of the opposites here. For instance, if your sari, suit or lehenga is lavish, balance it out by keeping your jewellery light, and in matching with tones of your outfit. The wedding season brings forth many opportunities to flaunt your ethic, traditional jewellery, as it accentuates both, light and heavy outfits. You can always experiment with fusion jewellery, which is a blend of traditional and modern jewellery, and is currently in vogue.
While dressing for a festive occasion, men should choose their colour combinations carefully -- a light bottom wear should be paired up with a dark upper and vice-versa. They can experiment with embossed metal or meenakari buttons for their kurta and wear a light gold chain. Bracelets in silver (even gold and rose gold) and kadas are also a great option for men.
